HOW DTF PRINTING WORKS

DTF stands for direct-to-film. The artwork is printed onto a specialist film, adhesive powder is applied and heated, and the design is transferred onto the garment using a heat press.

This creates an applied print on the fabric. The size and coverage of the artwork influence how the printed area feels, which is useful to consider when planning a large graphic.

DTF OR SCREEN PRINTING?

DTF is a practical option for smaller orders and complex colour designs. Capsule Merch’s screen printing service starts at 25 units and is another option for larger runs.

We discuss the options for your project and prepare a mockup before printing. Check the garment colour, artwork size and placement carefully at this stage.

Yes, DTF is suited to photographic artwork, gradients and detailed multicolour designs. The original file quality and final print size affect the result, so send the best version of your artwork for review.

How much does DTF printing cost?

Pricing depends on the garment, quantity, print dimensions and number of print positions. Include those details in your enquiry to receive a quote for the complete order.

What artwork should I provide?

Send your original artwork file where possible, rather than a screenshot. Include the intended print dimensions and let us know if the background should appear in the finished design. If you need help preparing the artwork, mention it when you enquire.

Can I print on my own garments?
